Custom Art Page Redesign: Streamlining Creativity
Problem: The original commission page showcased only three similar artworks and offered a basic form with minimal input fields. This limited the user’s understanding of what kinds of custom work were available and offered little guidance or structure to express their vision.
Process: The new Custom Art section restructured the user flow around exploration and ease. Visitors are now greeted with a clean header and brief overview of what to expect, followed by eight unique categories of custom work. Each image functions as an entry point to deeper details, offering progressive disclosure of pricing, size options, materials, and turnaround expectations—reducing confusion while setting clear boundaries.
The updated request form was designed using principles of form usability and user empowerment. It introduces optional prompts (e.g., Inspiration, Art Description), allowing clients to give as much or as little detail as they want. Required fields are minimized to reduce friction, increasing submission rates.
Impact: This redesign makes it easier for clients to feel confident in their requests while also giving you, the artist, more context up front. It’s a prime example of balancing user-centered design with business efficiency. The variety of visual examples also showcases your range and invites creative conversations that previously might never have started.
Future Improvements: Integrating auto-confirmation emails or estimated timelines upon submission would further build trust. Consider adding a “See Past Commissions” section for social proof and visual inspiration. A progress bar or indicator at the top of the form (if it ever expands) could aid navigation.
